Record yourself reading your notes, going over main points or just repeating what you find hard to remember.

Recording and listening to yourself helps you learn in two ways. Firstly, it makes you think about the pronunciation of a word or phrase before you say it; secondly, when you repeat something, it strengthens your memory.

Recording

Pick a short text, a list of phrases, or a few key sentences that are important for you and record them. Speak clearly and at a moderate pace.

Listening & reviewing

Listen to the recording shortly after you make it; leave it for some time and play it back a few hours later. Wait until the next day, a week, two weeks, a month, six months and a year.

Each time you listen, try to remember the information before you hear it. This will strengthen your memory.

Why it works

When you record yourself, you’re not just passively reading; you’re actively producing the language. Secondly, you’re listening to your own voice, which means you’ll pay attention; thirdly, it’s easy and free, as you only need a smartphone and can do it anywhere anytime.

Try it at least once. Found it useful? Good. No? You’ve only wasted a few minutes…
