One way to make your English more professional (and clearer!) is to check whether you are using “for” and “of” too much.
Scan your text for these prepositions and see if they can be replaced by more economical constructions.
Examples
- Instead of “The material for the meeting,” try “The meeting material” (it’s shorter).
- Instead of “The boss of the company,” write “The company’s boss.” (use the possessive case to make it simpler).
- Instead of “The office from the warehouse,” say “The warehouse office” (it’s shorter and more common).
This is a simple way to improve your writing, so apply it whenever you can!
